Medics Tennis

Keele Medics Tennis offers a relaxed and sociable opportunity to enjoy tennis, open to all skill levels. The club itself is new this year and was created to encourage more medical students to get to know each other outside of the lecture theatre or hospital.

Whether you’re the next Emma Raducanu, or you’ve never heard of her, we hope we can get you to come and have a go! The club is open to all five years, both men and women, medics and non-medics. This creates a brilliant hub in which to mix with years above and below in a non-academic setting.

We plan to have a 2-hour session on Tuesday evenings 19:00 – 21:00 where members can come a long and either join in with some games or have a hit with friends. Naturally numbers may be limited due to available courts, and so we will send out a sign up in advance.

Membership will cost £30, and this will cover your attendance for the academic year. This money goes towards a mandory insuarance fee we must pay the SU, hiring of the tennis courts, as well as purchasing tennis balls. Unfortunately, at the moment, we aren’t able to provide tennis rackets, but we are looking into funding for some, and in the meantime, we have been told that rackets can be hired from the sports centre for a small fee.

If you’re a beginner at tennis but would like to improve, we’d recommend coming along and seeing what it’s all about. We’re happy to let first timers have their first session for free, just so they can see what we’re all about.

For those of you who are more experienced, please do let us know if you’d be interested in playing competitively, as this year we hope to run join events with Keele Tennis Club, and perhaps the other Medical sports societies.
